FUN.

HAHA. I guess it's time for the inevitable. I have put off posting FUN. for a looong while now. AS IN. Ever since I resumed blogging, I have wanted to post about them but I only got around to it now (NOW that the obsession in me is already subsiding). I have put off posting this because I treasure fun. so much and I think that I'm too afraid that they wouldn't be of your tastes. I figured you haven't heard much indie music as I have and it may be kinda scary for you. But alas, I feel like I can't go on with this blog when my whole system has fun. in it and it's already beginning to move on and find new blood but I still haven't shared them with you. Yes, if you understood what I just said, please go on reading. HAHA, anyway.

Let's talk about what Wikipedia tells us about fun.. Yes, they're a band and yes, they do have a period at the end of their name. They're cool like that.

Sabi ni Wiki, fun. is an American indie pop band (you do not know how good that sounds to me) based in New York City in New York that was formed by Nate Ruess from the now-dissolved band, The Format. After the 2008 breakup of The Format, Ruess left Arizona to develop his career in New York City.  Ruess then formed Fun with Andrew Dost of Anathallo and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train. Fun recorded their debut album, Aim and Ignite in August 2008.

In February 2010, Fun supported Jack's Mannequin  (I love this band too, HAHA) on their headline tour, along with Vedera which was followed by their first UK appearances in March. YADA YADA YADA. Their current touring band also includes Rob Kroehler, Emily Moore, Nate Harold, and Jon "Jonny Thunder" Goldstein.

HEAR THIS, HEAR THIS. In April 2010, Fun supported Paramore's headline tour. Other support for the tour includes Relient K and Harriet Ellis of Summer Beats hosted by Sprint Mobile. The band then embarked on a full UK tour in May. OHA OHA.

Fun and Relient K opened up for Paramore on their Spring Tour 2010. AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!
Aim and Ignite album cover art.
Anywhooooooo. Let's talk about some of their songs, shall we?

Personally, I loved the whole Aim and Ignite album but I DID have preferences, favorites even. And I'm also gonna talk about some that's not in the album. Also, as I am totally in love with fun. because they are so totally AMAZING live (although I haven't really seen them perform live, please do not argue with me, haha), I am gonna post some of their live sessions along with the studio versions. I'M EXCITED!

So, let's be moving along.

The first one is All The Pretty Girls. This is the first fun. song that I listened to and it was a lot of FUN too! If you've been reading my posts, I discovered fun. the same time I first listened to Pumped Up Kicks, that M.E.N. I was talking about in this post-->Pumped Up Kicks-Foster The People, that was it. HAHA. Anyways, watch the video first, before we make further evaluations.
Please, just ignore Nate's pants, however distracting they may be. Nate is the one who sings, by the way. HAHAHA. They look pretty cute, don't they? I didn't think so, the first time I saw a picture of them. But I have realized over the time that as far as I and music are concerned, familiarity breeds affection. Think that over. :) OHMY, looking at them right now, I realized that they look like a bunch of nerds and I AM A NERD for saying 'they look pretty cute, don't they?'. Oh well. Dorky is my name and Quirky is my game.

Some say Nate look like Mark Wahlberg and I'monna go with YEAH! HE TOTALLY DOES! I love Mark Wahlberg. Tsk.

I don't know what more to say about the song at this point because I just plainly liked it when I heard it. At this point right now, I would have some things to say about it but I WON'T. Because I, how do I say this? I have a lot to say about it now because of the experiences and discoveries I had between that time and now. And, I guess, I want you to discover those things as well and enjoy this song in a whole new light later on. That goes for all the other songs too. Because that is the joy of music! Don't you just love that? :))))))

Next let's talk about At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used To Be). WAIT! Before I say anything more, let's listen to it first. :D
Now this. This song gave me a lot to like about fun. Kung sa All The Pretty Girls, I just plainly liked it, with this one, I really noticed the artist and I started to wonder about their potential and what they could actually serve on the table. After this I may have to post some lives. HAHA. With this song, uhm, when I listened to it, I felt LIBERATED. I felt FREE. Haha. I honestly did. At that time, I couldn't actually tell what I felt but it really seemed like an overwhelming eureka moment. I never knew music can be like this. I never thought it could be that honest and fun and playful. HAHA. I feel silly right now but back then, that's what I felt.
The thing I so dig about fun. is how they can rock out live. That live session was no different from the studio version, except that it's acoustic. Well, maybe I'm overdoing this fun. promotion and I maybe over-reacting but YES, I am totally admiring Nate. He's an excellent singer. I never thought. O.O

They're GOOOOD! I wish I'd been there to shout "HEY, NATE!" at the hey, nate part. :| ENK. Y'know there's this live one during their tour with Paramore where they sing this song with Relient K and Hayley Williams does the girl parts. But I won't post that because I'm so jealous of Hayley. BUT OHHH! That moment is just so epic, my favorite artists sharing a stage!!!!!!!!! So I'm gonna post it. I just decided that now.
This video has 0 dislikes! Gettaloado'that!!! In case you missed, the one playing trumpet was Matt Thiessen from Relient K. You'd recognize his scraggly mass of a hair, ugh, Matt and his hair. That was really fun jamming but OH! I think you've had too much of ALINAS. SORRRRRY.

Are you now seeing the built-up excitement?! This is gonna be a long post. HAHA. Okay maybe I'll just do top three favorites and just post the videos for the others. HAHA.

This maybe TOP 1. HAHA. I was supposed to do a separate post on this. I had written out a draft on my notebook and I'm just gonna type it here now with some commentaries and whatnot.

The supposed TITLE: I really really love this song.

Well, that tells a lot doesn't it? I love almost every song I post here. But not enough to put it on the title.
That was actually a desperate plea for you to read this post.

In this post, I will reveal two artists that I am into these days (I've obviously written this quite some time ago). They are Panic! At The Disco and Fun. Knowing about the collaboration made my world shake. Of course, that is an exaggeration so you don't have to wonder if my world indeed shook. This song is titled "C'mon"

C'mon is one of those songs that I loved instantly. During my C'MON phase, I couldn't say a single negative thing about it. HAHA. That's how much I adore it. Considering how I love the two artists (which I doubt you have the vaguest idea of), you could just imagine (maybe you can't) how euphoric I feel everytime I listen to it.

It's funny that I first heard a cover of this before I heard the original version. I don't know how I arrived at Colour Of Infinity's cover (COI is Patrick and I like him and his sister, you should check them out) but I liked his cover and I wanted to listen to the original, to see if it were better or worse so I can decide which to download. ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS.
I do not like this video so much. I was looking for one with cute pictures and the CORRECT lyrics but this one is the closest to having them but I like the photos from this video better.

OKAY, LEZZ WATCH IT LIIIVE!

MIND. BLOWING. So powerful. Brendon's keyboard smashing and their almost kiss. HAHA. Them sharing a stage and singing one song. AMAZING, I tell you. So sweet. OKAY, I can't say any more.

Here are other fun. songs I like:

The Gambler

Now I don't care if this video doesn't have photos. The lyrics are what matter most. :D
